The general surgery residency program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City emphasizes a hands-on experience. The aims of our program are to: provide the resident with experience in a variety of hospital settings with exposure to diverse patient populations and surgical procedures; mentor each resident with an emphasis on relationship-building and strong communication; prepare the resident to enter private practice, fellowship, or academic surgery after five years of training.
