UofL Surgery is an ACGME accredited 5-year residency offering 10 categorical positions per year. Key principles: intensive experience of patient care, decision-making, early operative exposure, independence & graded responsibility. The sizeable patient base & multiple hospitals/rural rotations allow residents to gain the experience to obtain board certification. Residents perform 1,200 cases including complex oncologic, vascular, transplant, pediatric, trauma & laparoscopic procedures.
