Special Features
San Mateo County General Hospital became one of the first model community mental health centers in the country in the 1960s and the birthplace of the first chapter of NAMI in 1974. Our residency program was also one of the first in the nation to have a public psychiatry focus and our original mission continues today. Through a variety of clinical experiences, our residents are part of the solutions to the critical problems facing today's mental health care system.
