This is a university-based program with comprehensive clinical training, research experience, and quality improvement activities. The training sites are a safety net hospital, a Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and a private tertiary care hospital. Patients are diverse in age, gender, socioeconomic status, and medical conditions. The Kansas City metro area has over 2 million residents, with easy access to both urban and rural cultural and recreational activities.
